Appearance

Platinum has a naturally white satin luster and never fades or changes in colour. It also accentuates the sparkle and brilliance of a diamond.

18k white gold is close in appearance to platinum and is rhodium plated to prevent colour loss. With the need to be re-plated every so often, we offer re-plating free of charge.

18k yellow gold is the most classic of the precious metals. It has a warm hue and holds the beautiful natural colour that gold is known for.

Fashionable and romantic, 18k rose gold has a beautiful pink hue and is created by mixing pure gold with a copper alloy.

Durability

Strong and durable, a platinum setting is very secure. However, it is more malleable and can incur more scratches and dents than 18k white gold.

The alloys and rhodium plating not only give white gold its beautiful colour but make it stronger and more durable than platinum. It is also less inclined to scratches and dents.

Pure gold is too soft to be used in fine jewellery, so it is alloyed with other metals to make it stronger and more durable for everyday wear.

Unlike white gold, 18k rose gold doesn’t require regular maintenance. It may however slightly darken over time, but this is considered a desirable characteristic as it gives it a vintage look.

Price

Platinum is the most expensive of the precious metals. This is because it has a higher density and a higher purity grade than 18k gold.

18k white gold is more affordable than platinum. This is because it has a lower density and purity grade.
